Cheap Japanese (Nihongo) Lessons in Fukuoka

Formal nihongo lessons can be very expensive, costing up to ¥3000 per hour for a two month course.  While it may be a worthwhile investment it is important to learn about the alternatives available in Fukuoka.  Not too many people know that there are Japanese Classes conducted by volunteers.  These are semi-formal classes conducted by..uhm…volunteers, usually native speakers who want to practice their teaching skills before taking qualification tests for professional Japanese teachers.  Some are simply those who are interested to volunteer their time and meet people from the international community.  Despite being voluntary, they are very serious with their work and they treat it as a real job.  They offer different levels of nihongo so you can pick one that suits your ability.  Rates can be as low as for free to ¥1,000 a year.

Here are some volunteer classes listed for 2009 in the Fukuoka Area.

  1. ok is there any other japanese schools that offers student visa for students outside japan ?

    cheap prices too

like 500000 yen for 1 year

a japanese school for pre university students.

    thank you

  2. Hi, I chose Akasaka Area in Fukuoka and I have questions. I m from Uzbekistan and how to contact these schools? can i get student visa from these? what is accommodation price there? I'll wait for your reply.

    with regards Izzatillo

    1. Hello Tajiev,
Thank you for your post. Most of these schools do not offer student visa because these are free or almost free programs with no academic structure. For that you will have to go to the formal Japanese language schools.

  3. hi , i have a question , i noticed that all these schools have classes only one day per week but some of them not on the same day ! is it possible to have classes every day in a different school ?
